ZeSa® Balance-Strength Training System™ Devices have user-sensitive surfaces that provide the foundation for all levels of training, created for either barefoot training OR with gym shoes. Removable top platforms also provide options with turf-top surfaces to be used while wearing sport cleats (soccer, football, baseball, golf, etc.).
Unique features include:
- Anti-slip top layer. Users can easily grip the soft surface pad of the ZeSa Activator Training Platforms preventing slips and slides off the platform (becomes more tacky with moisture, i.e. sweaty bare feet).
- Barefoot-friendly. ZeSa Activator Training Platforms are designed to be used with bare feet, which stimulates the sensory nervous system and helps increase foot strength (see below).
- Exer-dry. The surface of the ZeSa Activator Training Platforms have moisture-wicking technology, keeping your grip strong even in hot, humid conditions.
Barefoot Training Benefits with ZeSa® Dynamic Balance-Strength Training System™ Equipment
As a direct & often only interface between the body and the ground, our feet allow us to sense and interact with our environment. It takes milliseconds for impulses from feet to reach your brain & for your brain to respond. Barefoot workouts have been shown to improve muscle strength and endurance, stability, proprioception, and coordination By increasing these components, it can also decrease the chances of injury
Improve Foot Strength – Feet contain 200+ muscles, tendons & ligaments, all of which work together to provide support, balance & mobility. Training barefoot helps prevent common injuries and strengthens “often overlooked” foot muscles.
Biomechanical Efficiency – We’re bio-mechanically made to perform barefoot for:
- Improved coordination
- Improved foot stability (toes can spread, removes constrictions of shoes)
- Healthier joints – reduced chance of injuries
- Shoes can limit foot muscle engagement (i.e., running shoes made to propel forward, not for balance)
- Sensory information from feet protect from injury, and make subtle gait adjustments to protect bones & joints, and more efficient movement.
Proprioception Improvements – Also known as our Sixth Sense (sense of knowing where your body is in space – try closing eyes & touching nose).
- Increases activation of Proprioceptors (Sensory receptors which receive stimuli from within the body, especially those that responds to position and movement)
- Feet are filled with Sensory Receptors with over 200,000 nerve endings in each foot– more than any other part of the body! These receptors are activated by pressure, vibrations and temperature.
- Continuous Central Nervous System feedback between soles of our feet up to our brain, then signals back to muscles which are constantly detecting minute changes that allow us to balance.
- Engages ALL foot muscles in proper manner for necessary connection between tissues & ligaments.
Ankle mobility – Improves by connecting tissues from the toes, plantar fascia to the ankle. Research shows improved ankle mobility can improve landing mechanics for injury prevention.
